President & Founder
With over 15 years of experience, Kristin Egan is an expert in the development, operations, and programming of both permanent and seasonal ice rink facilities. Kristin has developed over 250,000 square feet of ice, and has provided vision and leadership to some of the most iconic rink projects of recent years, including the development of the largest ice sports center in the southern hemisphere (a ~$58mil capital project), and the first ever outdoor rooftop ice rink in NYC (a ~$6mil capital project).
Kristin's passion for the industry began during her extensive career as a competitive hockey player and figure skater. Kristin is uniquely skilled in the consumer education and grassroots programming components associated with launching rinks in non-traditional markets, and provides particularly intuitive guidance to developers in markets where ice rinks are not inherently integrated into the culture.
In addition to permanent rink facilities, Kristin specializes in activating outdoor spaces with vibrant seasonal ice skating events. She enjoys working with property management groups, downtown associations, and municipalities to create winter centerpieces designed to engage guests and bring communities together.
Kristin founded Competitive Edge Rink Consulting in 2016 with a vision of lending resources to developers who want to push the boundaries of how ice rinks are developed and operated. Kristin provides Competitive Edge clients with a 360-degree examination of their project, steering them towards success, and away from expensive or time-consuming mistakes.

Over the last 20 years, Rick has elevated the Southeast's presence in elite ice sports by founding the South East Junior Hockey League, and bringing the first National Junior Title to the Southeast in 2007.
Prior to entering the rink industry, Rick enjoyed a successful career in show business as a theatrical producer and Cruise Director with some of the top cruise lines in the world. He blends that unique experience into his approach to rink management. Rick personally understands the unique challenges that rink owners face, and offers Competitive Edge clients support and clarity in every area of their operation.
